Enfield’s fine London League form continued on Wednesday with a commanding 20-7 victory over Blue Marlin at Southgate.
The hosts fielded a strong 13-man squad and raced into a 2-0 lead with only 40 seconds gone in the match.
Rob Lucas tormented the visitor’s defence from the start and slammed in two well-worked goals as Enfield took full control of the first quarter.
That trend continued throughout the opening eight minutes and the game was pretty much over as a contest when Lucas completed his hat-trick and goals from Dax Cain, Andy Rolle, Tony Matthews and a brace from John Jackson extended Enfield’s lead to 8-2 at the end of the first.
In the second, Enfield maintained their dominance, but failed to make the most of a number of counter attacks.
Lucas did manage to add a fourth from 2m and Matthews was again on target as the north Londoners ended the half 10-3 up.
The Walton-on-Thames based team rallied in the third and found the net three times, but goals from Alex Waller, Richard Waller and Lucas, adding his fifth, made sure the third quarter finished 3-3 and 13-6 on the night.
With Blue Marlin tiring in the final quarter, Enfield were able to rotate their squad and extended their lead to 20-6 through Tom Mendham, Cain, A Waller, R Waller and Rolle and Matthews completing their hat-tricks.
There was still time for a late consolation goal for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough to take the shine off a fine Enfield team performance.
Enfield have now scored 118 goals in their nine London League games and sit second in the table behind leaders Watford.
Their next match is away to Guilford on Thursday, 18 September.
