Enfield finished their London League campaign in style on Wednesday with an impressive 15-10 (3-1, 3-3, 4-2, 5-4) home win against league leaders Watford.
With three key players missing, including 1st team captain Rob Threadgold and National League star Tom Mendham, Enfield were forced to make a number of changes to their starting line-up.
But it was still Enfield who started the game stronger, with Rob Lucas converting two well-worked man-ups and Andy Rolle firing in from deep to give the hosts a 3-1 lead at the end of the first.
Watford began to fight back in the second, but young gun Charlie Briers kept Enfield in front with two 2m goals and Richard Waller sent in a precision lob to make it 6-4 at the half.
Enfield extended their lead to 10-6 in the third and continued to dominate as Christian Pulido, Lucas, Briers and Craig Snowdon all found the net.
In the final quarter, Alex Waller popped up with two goals on the counter and strikes from R Waller, Lucas and Briers sealed a memorable 15-10 win.
The victory moves Enfield one point above their north London rivals, but with a game in hand, superior goal difference and a point awarded for turning up, Watford should clinch the Division III title at Guilford on Thursday.
Enfield’s team in full was Andy Boorman, Christian Pulido, Richard Waller, Andy Rolle, Rob Lucas, Alex Waller, Charlie Briers, Craig Snowdon, Andy Poore, Martin Ilievski, Adrian Lo, John Jackson and Paul Shafee.
