Enfield 1sts stormed to the top of London League Division Two on Tuesday with a commanding 18-5 (6-0, 2-1, 3-3, 7-1) victory away at Beckenham 2nds.
With several first team players missing, including Tony Matthews, Rob Lucas and Tom Mendham, Enfield arrived with only nine players, but it didn’t stop them racing into a 6-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
In attack, Great Britain junior Charlie Briers was in devastating form as he outclassed the Beckenham defence on numerous occasions to slam home four well-taken goals.
Richard Waller and Alex Waller were providing the ammunition and they also got on the scoresheet as they both finished off excellent Enfield team moves.
Craig Snowdon kept Enfield driving forward in the second and ensured the north Londoners extended their lead with a delicate lob and a shot that bounced at least five times before drifting across the line to make it 8-1 at the half.

Enfield’s young guns Briers, A Waller and R Waller were all on target again in the third quarter as the visitors took an unassailable 11-4 lead going into the final period.
As the hosts tired, Enfield showed no mercy in the fourth as they continued to dominate and swarm around the Beckenham goal.
Briers added another four to take his tally to nine, while A Waller hammered home two more and Andy Rollé finished off the scoring with a fine 2m turn and shot to make it 18-5 at the final whistle.
Enfield sit top of London League Division Two for now, but favourites Watford 2nds still have two games in hand and are only five points behind.
The 1st team are in London Water Polo action again next Wednesday (24 June) away at Whitgift Trinity, 9pm start.
