With 500 days to go before the beginning of the LEN European Water Polo Championships Barcelona 2018, the Organizing Committee is already designing an ambitious promotional plan, one of the cornerstones of the project. Getting the message to the widest audience possible by sharing details about the championships, from the mascot to the official theme song or the merchandise are the key elements to make this plan a success.Today marks 500 days until Barcelona 2018, although the qualifying stages will start this year, with the first round of the men’s championship scheduled for 17-19 March. Held in Prague, Austria, Bulgaria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic will face each other in this stage. The second round will take place in Poland and Portugal in October.

The starting point of this promotional plan will coincide with the Spanish Junior Championship that will be held in Madrid from 6-9 April 2017.

The campaign theme, that will grow as the event gets closer, is “Don’t stop it”, which has been created to match the movement of the water polo ball, a fundamental axis of the campaign.

The Organizing Committee’s main goal from now on is to take advantage of all the major water polo events, both on a national and international level, in order to increase awareness among water polo enthusiasts. Some of these events include national leagues play-offs, European Final Six and Final Four as well as the World Aquatics Championships that will take place in Budapest in July 2017.

The LEN European Water Polo Championships will be held at the Bernat Picornell Pool from 14-28 July 2018. To this date, eight men’s and 6 women’s national teams have qualified, among which Spain, the host team.
