Recco bounced back from the opening day defeat and came up with a commanding performance in Split. Olympiacos hit 21 in Tbilisi while Barceloneta downed Vouliagmeni in the second half. Dinamo 0 Losing the opening game at the Euroean stage was something Recco barely experienced in the past – losing two in a row never happened to them, at least not at the beginning of any season. Still, after going down in Piraeus, they faced a tough test in Split, but passed it with flying colours. A 0-3 start set the tone, though the Croats kept coming back, the Italians never let them equalise. Their American centre-forward Ben Hallock was outstanding, netted three from the centre, he really made a difference in this match. Olympiacos had a much easier task in this round, and they didn’t make any mistake in Tbilisi. They stormed to a 3-10 lead by halftime and added eight goals in the third. Ioannis Fountoulis was on fire, netted seven goals. The Greeks stopped at 21, just two shy of Recco’s last season single-game record of 23. Barceloneta also enjoyed a fine evening in Athens. Vouliagmeni stood firm in the first half, trailed only 3-4 after sixteen minutes, but the Spaniards found their game in the third, hit four in eight minutes and never looked back. Radnicki had been four goals up at halftime on Day 1 but due to a collapse in the third period, then another one in the dying minutes they had to settle for a draw against Vouliagmeni. Now they led 9-4 in the middle break against Hannover and still had problems to hold on. The Germans came back twice, first in the third to 9-7, then they had a late surge in the fourth when netted five.
